Delete your account
How to have your ProjectoFolio account and its data erased, what gets removed, and how long it takes.
Deleting from inside the app or the website
This is the fastest route and it needs nothing from us:
- Sign in, in the Android app or at projectofolio.com.
- Tap or click your name in the top bar to open Your account.
- Under Danger zone, choose Delete my account.
- Read the summary. It lists, with real numbers, exactly how many projects, files and quality-control records will be destroyed and how many other people lose access.
- Type
DELETE MY ACCOUNT, tick the acknowledgement, and confirm.
Requesting deletion without signing in
If you cannot get into your account — you lost the password, the address no longer exists, the phone is gone — email privacy@projectofolio.com from the address the account uses, or tell us which address the account uses if you no longer control it.
We will ask you to prove the account is yours before we do anything. That is deliberate: without it, anyone who knew your email address could destroy your projects and your colleagues’ work. Once we are satisfied, the request runs through exactly the same process as the in-app button, on the same timetable, and we confirm in writing when it is done.
What is deleted
Deleting an account is a cascade, not a tidy-up. It destroys:
- Every project you own, in full — not just your view of it. The project stops existing for every member of it.
- Every document, photo and video in those projects, including the stored copies of the files themselves.
- Every task, quality-control checkpoint and sign-off in those projects, and the evidence attached to them.
- Every stored credential in those projects.
- All project conversations in those projects.
- Everyone else’s access to those projects, without further warning to them.
- Your profile: name, email address, profile picture, sign-in identities and password.
The confirmation screen in the app tells you the exact counts — how many projects, how many files, how many other people — before you commit to any of it.
What is kept, and why
- Projects owned by other people are not affected. You lose your membership of them; they carry on.
- Messages, comments and quality-control sign-offs you left in those projects stay where they are, because they are the other members’ record of what happened and removing them would destroy someone else’s data. Your name and email address are stripped from them — they show as Deleted user.
- Billing and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. We cannot delete those on request.
How long it takes
- Straight away. The account is deactivated. You are signed out, sign-in is refused, the projects you owned become unreachable for everybody, and any paid subscription is cancelled so you are not billed again.
- After 30 days. Everything above is permanently erased, stored files included. Nothing is irreversible before this point.
- The 30-day window exists so a mistake, or an account someone else got into, can still be undone. During it, write to us from the address on the account and we can restore it.
Deleting your account does not by itself delete a file from a project owned by someone else. Deleted files there follow that project’s own retention window — 14 days on Free, 30 days on Starter and 180 days on Pro, Pro Extended and Business, set by that project owner’s plan.
